Review: NEW Battle Bites Flavours

Battle Oats already have a strong range of high protein snacks, from their flapjacks to vegan friendly cookies. Battle Bites were introduced most recently, bringing something a little different to the table. Described by Battle Oats themselves as a ‘low sugar, guilt free triple layered indulgent chocolate snack, these come in the pack as two small ‘bites’. Optimum Nutrition are the only other brand we’ve seen successfully do this.

Two new flavours were recently added: Birthday Cake and Red Velvet. Both of which immediately grabbed my interest. I love the more American style flavours and don’t gravitate towards traditional chocolate/cookies/caramel bars.

Nutritionals

I’m going to assume that most people will eat the pack (2 pieces) and talk about the nutritional information based on this.

Calories: 220

Protein: 21g

Carbs: 16g

Fat: 8g

I would consider this an excellent balance of macros. Two of the key things I tend to look for in a bar are a good protein content per serving and low sugar- these have only 3g.

The ingredients are a little ‘chemically’, so I would advise not consuming these in excess. But as something to have a couple of times a week, they’re a great choice. See what I mean below!

Taste Test

Red Velvet: Really tasty and cakey. It’s difficult to do red velvet justice, but Battle Oats have done an incredible job. The texture of these is actually one of my favourites of any bar I’ve ever tried. I felt that the sprinkles on the outside could be toned down a little bit as they are very hard and detract from how enjoyable the rest of the bar is.

Birthday Cake: This one was my favorite! I would describe it as vanilla cake with a raspberry jam/cream layer and sprinkles. Again, texture is wonderful.

Priced at just £19 for a box of 12!
