Fat Loss Fundamentals

Looking to lose some weight?

Shed a little body fat?

Well in this post we share a few Fat Loss Fundamentals to help you on your journey to a slimmer you!

Are you eating more calories than you think???

Many of us tend to eat MORE calories than we actually think…

But how?

Well, we may do really well in the morning and during the day but on a night or on the weekends we have that take away, those snacks or those drinks!

It’s not to say we can’t ever have those but many of these have hundreds if not possibly thousands (the take away this is referring to) of calories that can throw out your calorie targets by a LONG way meaning that all of your hard work is essentially wasted…

“You can’t out-train a bad diet”

An easy way to help prevent this is to control our splurges, have small treats and eat foods that keep us fuller for longer such as vegetables and fruits...these are great as the fibre keeps us full and we don’t even get the urges in the first place.

Something to think about.

Another option is to check out having a low calorie shake such as the Optimum Health Diet Protein that helps to provide us with a known amount of calories, tastes like a treat and is pretty filling too!

It’s a winner in our book.

Are you training enough and burning enough calories?

Weight training is a great way to keep our muscles strong and help give that ‘toned’ look...but even though it can get pretty sweaty, regular weight training doesn’t burn a whole load of calories.

Think about doing circuit training or cardio for this...getting involved with some gym classes is a great idea too, as you just follow along to the instructions and don’t have to think about it too much - just do!

Time Scale

Like with most things that are worth having, they take time to get.

Losing weight is no different.

Losing 1-2 lbs a week is often regarded as a healthy amount (provided you’ve got the weight to lose) so don’t aim to lose too much right away!

Chances are, at first you’ll lose more and as the weeks go on the weight losses will get less (but that doesn’t mean you’re not making progress).

Weight loss takes time, so make sure that you have this in mind and set yourself up to win by not going too mad with the takeaways and/or snacks….do a reasonable amount of cardio to get the weight moving and eat your veggies!
