Product of the Week: Adapt Pump

This week we are featuring the all new Adapt Pump as our product of the week. This is a something little different from our other bestselling pre-workout products and has been an instant hit!

What is it?

A non-stimulant based vasodilation formula in capsule form.

How to take it?

Simply take four capsules before your session. Adapt do not give specific details as to how close to training they recommend you take it however, it is suggested that it can be stacked with a stimulant based pre-workout product (such as Pre-Train) which would indicate 10-30 minutes before your session would be optimal.

How does it work?

Pure L-Citrulline is the primary ingredient here, alonside EpiFLOW. An amino acid, L-Citrulline is used fairly commonly in sport and exercise to reduce fatigue, improve performance and even reduce muscle soreness.

In this product in particular, L-Citrulline is included to assist the production of nitric oxide (NO). Nitric oxide relaxes muscles and improves blood flow. It is key in increasing blood flow in the body through dilation of blood vessels… what, in training, we call a pump! EpiFLOW has been added to enhance the effects of the Citrulline and Astragin.

Achieving a muscle pump benefits more than just your ego. It can actually be linked to hypertrophy. Training for a pump, rather than strength, can elicit more cellular damage and fatigue. Furthermore, the swelling of cells increases protein synthesis and decreases protein breakdown. In theory, this will lead to more muscle growth!

Takeaway: while progressive overload (increasing strength over time) should be your priority, 'pump' work in the later part of your session serves a purpose. The combination will help you get the most out of your training.

Personally, I used this alongside a sugar free energy drink before a higher volume shoulder session. While it is difficult to assess how effective it actually is as it doesn't 'kick in' like beta alanine or caffeine, I had a great session and was happy with the results! I think that this would be even better to use before an arm day where you can really focus on a mind to muscle connection and squeeze.
