3 Muscle Friendly Chocolate Recipes

Who said chocolate was off bounds when dieting? Maybe high sugar chocolate bars, but certainly not chocolate flavoured foods! In fact, I have at least 1 chocolate meal every day even when I am dieting! Just like many of you, I am very partial to chocolate. With that said, I wanted to share with you 3 of my top chocolate recipes which are diet friendly!

Chocolate Mousse – Perfect low carb snack or pre-bed meal

Some of you may have read my ‘recipe of the week’ last week and saw my chocolate mousse recipe. Today I wanted to offer a variation on that recipe, which I think is perhaps a touch better if I may say so myself.

100g Quark Cheese

1 scoop of chocolate protein powder

20 crushed macadamia nuts

1 heaped teaspoon of unsweetened coco powder

1 teaspoon of stevia

Add water and stir, and then leave set in the fridge for 15-20 minutes

This tastes absolutely amazing, much like a chocolate cheese cake. Eating it before bed as my last meal has guilt trailing through my mind and I have to remind myself it is perfectly healthy.

Chocolate Pancakes – perfect post-workout or breakfast meal

Who doesn’t like pancakes? These are one of my all time favourite recipes to use when I am dieting!

50g oats

4 egg whites

½ glass of skimmed milk

½ glass of water

1 scoop of chocolate protein powder

1 teaspoon of unsweetened coco powder

Add all ingredients into a blender until you achieve a cream like consistency

Using a ladle, add the mix to a piping hot frying pan coated with 1 cal extra virgin olive oil spray. (Please do take care with the frying pan in this instance – it is VERY hot!)

When your pancakes are done, serve them with ½ chopped banana and 30g of blueberries. If you like, you can even give the fruit a quick sizzle in the pan! This really is extremely tasty, and you are getting a great serving of protein and healthy carbs for breakfast or as a refuel right after your workout!

Home Made Protein Bar – Perfect day time snack when you are on the move

Protein bars are great, but if you have run out and are in a hurry I suggest you try this recipe! This represents a perfectly balanced snack for anyone looking to drop body fat, or build muscle.

50g oats

1.5 scoops of chocolate protein powder

3 egg whites

30g flaked almonds

2 teaspoons of stevia

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

Add all the ingredients into a bowl and stir thoroughly with some water until you have a thick paste. Place in a baking tray which is covered in 1 cal extra virgin olive oil spray. Bake for 10-15 minutes and then leave cool. These are best served after spending a few hours in the fridge but you can eat them right away!

From these 3 recipes I hope you guys are able to get your chocolate fix the way I am able to from now on!
