Keep Ticking - One Stop Guide To Heart Health Through Supplementation!

We all look after many aspects of our body and ensure we give ourselves everything necessary to do so. We provide adequate protein for muscle growth and recovery, vitamins and minerals to ensure we don’t have deficiencies; some may look towards supplements to look after there liver and other organs but how many look towards supplementing for the most important organ in our body and the hardest working, the heart.

Our heart works non stop from the moment were born until the moment we die, doesn’t it deserve some help along the way?

What can we do to look after our heart and our cardiac system as a whole?

We know that regular cardiovascular exercise keeps our heart healthy and ticking as it should but there are also certain things we can get from our diet and more specifically through supplementation that can help support a healthy heart and cardiac system.

Hawthorn Berry

Hawthorn berry has been found to lower blood pressure in those with high blood pressure and promote general health of the cardiac system.

It has been found to strengthen the heart by restoring the heart muscle wall and strengthening the blood vessels surrounding it. It has also been found to be affective at treating many cardiac ailments and is regarded as an effective treatment for the early stages of heart disease and has been used for a number of ailments including angina as a bonus it has also been found to lower cholesterol.

Celery seed extract

Celery seed extract contains 3nb also found in whole celery. This has been shown to reduce blood pressure. Studies have shown that even at small amounts it is capable of lowering blood pressure by around 12% and it has also been shown to lower cholesterol.

Omega Acids

Omega fatty acids which are found naturally in fish are extremely useful in helping to keep blood lipid values balanced. Omega fatty acids have been shown to help balance cholesterol and triglycerides and are extremely helpful to those with a high level of triglycerides who may be likely to be at risk of heart disease. Studies have shown that omega3 inparticular can help to prevent the occurrence of a heart attack as it prevents build ups of plaque within the arteries. Another noteworthy mention is oleic acid or omega 9 which has been shown to prevent hardening of the body’s blood vessels.

Folic acid

Folic acid or vitamin B9 has been shown to reduce homocystenine levels which have been linked to cardiovascular disease and has been shown to reduce heart defects in children when taken during or before pregnancy. Folic acid may also lower blood pressure.

Vitamin D

Another useful vitamin is vitamin D. Vitamin D could determine your risk of a heart attack, it has been shown that consuming sufficient amounts of vitamin D is linked to a reduced risk of high blood pressure  and heart disease.

Coenzyme Q10

Otherwise known as CoQ10 is shown to increase the performance of the cardiac muscles known as the heart contractility, it is also shown to reduce blood pressure by small amounts. There are also further studies into whether low levels of CoQ10 are a cause of high blood pressure as low levels have been found in people suffering with hypertension.

As we can see there is plenty available to support a healthy heart and cardiac system some of which we can get adequate amounts of through a good well thought out diet but others that need to be supplemented.
