PhD Battery is the perfect answer to your pre and post-workout needs. Understanding the complex idea of carbohydrate manipulation is vital if you want to maximise performance and your rate of recovery! PhD battery contains fructose and maltodextrin which are able to give you a relatively slow release in energy, as where dextrose monohydrate which also features in Battery digests much faster! Together, the 3 carbohydrate sources in PhD Battery enable the athlete to enjoy a steady energy release without an excessive sugar spike and they also enable the athlete to replenish depleted muscle glycogen levels.

To further aid recovery, PhD have utilised BCAAs and L-Glutamine which are both essential ingredients in regards to fighting catabolism! Overall, PhD Battery is a fantastic product ideal for any athlete looking to get more from their workouts! AG

Energy output is a complex matter. We all need a certain amount of carbohydrates to ensure that our glycogen stores are fully stocked to ensure we can perform to our optimum ability during exercise. This is an accepted fact. Slightly more complicated is the matter of pre-workout energy continuation and post workout glycogen replenishment. Different carbohydrate sources with different Glycemic measurements are required to satisfy these varying requirements. It’s additionally important that along with the triple-charged carbohydrate content of Battery +/- 3™, amino acids that are vital to the muscle preservation process are also included.

This is why PhD invented Battery +/-3™.

Step 1- Long and mid-term energy- Battery+/-3™ contains fructose and maltodextrin to ensure that when taken before and during exercise, the blood sugar spike will not be so great that it impairs long and mid-term performance. Fructose has a low glycemic rating (GI 23) so it’s conversion to blood sugar is slow and steady. Maltodextrin has been used throughout the years as a complex carbohydrate, though in reality, it is sufficient for mid-term energy storage and additionally effective when used post exercise to replenish glycogen stores and ensure complete and efficient recovery from training.

Step 2- Immediate glycogen replenishment- High Impact carbs!- Dextrose monohydrate has a high-glycemic rating ensuring immediate and effective glycogen replenishment and an instant elevation of blood sugar for complete recovery. This particular process becomes vital upon the conclusion of a workout. This is the period when glycogen reserves have been drained and need immediate replenishment.

Step 3- Added Branched Chain Amino Acids and L-Glutamine- BCAA’s are considered the critical cluster of amino acids, the most vital of all.

“ As someone who plays 11 aside football, I was struggling with cramp alot and lacked energy to finish games strongly. Since I started using battery I have really felt the benefits, it gives a boost when you need it most near the end of a tiring match. It really has helped (along with synergy) to improve my fitness a lot more than I ever expected and at around 50p per serving, you would be spending at least £1 on regular energy drinks which don't seem to have the same effect. Fantastic product would recommend to footballers playing at all levels. ”

Hello. its ok iff i take PhD Nutrition Battery , PhD Nutrition Wired , PhD Nutrition Pharma Whey or PhD Nutrition Synergy Iso7 . and PhD Nutrition Pharmaceutical Micronised Creatine . i`m slim and i whant to put same muscle mass. training 5 days per week for 1 houre. what is the best and how i take the supplemnts... thaks..
wired and synergy have creatin in so you would have too much creatine if you took all of these products. you could try synergy and battery. All the best Andy Robinson www.monstersupplements.com

How many servings are there in a tub of battery?
Hi Stuart Barnett Thanks for question. 25 servings in tub. Kind Regards JP

Hi, im a great fan of PHD products, i feel there the best around at the moment and i was wonering if i could stack, PHD battery, Pharma Whey, Lean degree and Phamaceutical Creatine together without any side effects? Thanx
Hi Nick Thanks for your question. You can stag them together drink just extra water. Kind Regards JP

Hi, I asked the question above. Thanx for such a quick response, will my 2 litres a day be enough or shall I up it to 3 or 4 maybe? Thank you.
Hi Nick Thanks for your question. 2 liters will be enough. Kind Regards JP

Hi.. im looking for a pre workout drink.. Phd wired is too expensive... any cheaper alternatives? is phd battery +/3 good enough?
Yes PhD battery is an excellent pre workout and post recovery drink! Yours in Health Simon@monster

Hi. What sweetener is in this product. I looked at the ingredients on your website but it just said 'sweetener'. Could you be more specific please?
Hi Josh, Thanks for your e-mail; the sweetener is Sucralose. Regards Mark.

Hi, I want to take PhD Battery post workout but what can I use to boost protein content ? I use PhD Pharma Whey but don't think it'd be feasibile to mix them together as it would taste awful. If I take them seperately it'd mean consuming over 750 ml which is far too much to take at once ! Any advice ?
Hi Wade, Thank you for your question; Yes we feel you could choose the CNP Pro Aminos to top up your amino/protein levels. please be warned that you need to consume 30 capsules for 30 grams of protein! Regards Mark www.monstersupplements.com

I was wondering if its alright to just have one serving before a workout rather than 3 taken throughout?
Hi John, Thank you for your question. This would be fine to use just before the workout and would also use it straight after the workout. Best Regards Simon Team Monster www.monstersupplements.com

Do you have to take it in 3 steps, or can you just take one serving before a workout?
Hi John, Thank you for your question; PhD Battery can be taken in three stages or 30-40 minutes before your workout. I suggest this but also use it after my workouts as it contains BCAA's Regards Simon Team Monster http://www.monstersupplements.com

I was looking at taking this as my source of postworkout carbs, currently i take synergy pre & Post workout, would i take this before or after the synergy?
Hi Brad I would advise the Battery straight after training and then the synergy 1 hour after the battery. Regards Mark

Could i take this product once a day in the morning to help recovery with 2 shakes of pharma gain a day and formula x thanks adam
Hi Adan Thank you for your question. No you should take this products before training for energy. Kind regards Danny

Is it ok to stack this product with phD wired, thank you
Hi Riyaz Yes thats fine. Kind regards Danny

Just wondering if it is a good idea to mix my creatine monohydrate powder with this drink? as i understand using creatine with a sugary type drink helps its absorbtion into your body.
Hi Edward Yes thats fine. Kind regards Danny

Hi there was looking at both phd battery and wired but didnt know which one was better for a drink that would do me as a post workout and a drink i could take for during sport which is racing motorcycles. I have used mrm as it was meant to stop lactic acid build up and stop arm pump which is a problem with this sport. What drink would you reccomend? Thanks
Hi Johnny Wired pre work out and batter post work out. Kind regards Danny

I currently use synergy as a post workout drink, but i am looking for something to give me energy. would it be ok if i just took this once 1 a day during my workout, and then synergy after my workout.
Hi I would recimend phd wired. Kind regards Danny

Hi how are monster? just a quick one. sorry to sound dumb but im new to all these supplements. id just like to no if this is like maximuscle VIPER or is it phd wired? sorry for dumb question but i have to ask because im not sure thanks in advance. tom
Hi Tom Not reallly. Its more of a recovery drink. Kind regards Danny

Hi, thinking of using this as a post workout drink along with PhD Pharma Whey + Reflex Creatine. Do you know the quantities of BCAA's in Battery? Is it worth taking some extra BCAA caps or L-glutamine aswell, or will the battery+pharma-whey contain enough?
Hi James Phd bcaa's are top of the tree. I would recomend phd wired. Kind regards Danny

Hi would this be a good product to take during my workout, i currently tain 4-5 days a week and use synergy as a post work and pharma whey pre workout. i feel wired is to expensive. would this product be a good one.
Hi Yes during and after your work out. Kind regards Danny

Hi, I train very early in the morning, normally within 30 mins of waking up. I need something that I can take to give me a boost in this time and I'm thinking either the PHD Battery or Maximuscle Viper/Viper Extreme. What would you recommend? Also should I take a protein shake before training?
Hi I would recomend phd wired or bsn no-xplode. Kind regards Danny

I have got a thai boxing fight coming up in 5 weeks time. I run in the morning, and do my padwork on a night around a full days work. I am currently around 10-12lbs over my fight weight and was looking for something to help me recover after training without gaining weight/mass. Would battery provide the recovey/energy to stop me aching in a morning and also provide a much needed energy boost as at the moment by the end of the week I am absolutely shattered and training is suffering.
Hi Scott Yes this will help. I would also recomend phd pharma whey. Kind regards Danny

I currently take synergy post workout. would u say this would be better than synergy? what is the best product to take post workout when trying to add size and bulk?
Hi Stephen I would have 2 scoops of battery then a serving of synergy all within 20mins of finishing training. Kind regards Danny

Hi there I am currently using cell mass, phd pharma whey and battery, how would u recommend I take these to maximise muscle mass and pump; i was thinkin whey 90mins before trainin, battery jus before, pharma whey after and then cell mass before i sleep... i'm lookin to gain some serious muscle at the moment...help! many thanks,

Is this product similar to Glyco-Maize by Optimum Nutrition because i really liked that product but i notice it isn't available on your website so I was wondering if this is a similar alternative?
Hi Dave Yes this is just a carb and bcaa's drink.

I was wondering would you recommend me either this product, viper or any similar products to take before a rugby game. Also could i just take this sort of supplements just when i need it?
HI Grant I would go for the batter. Its a great supplement for sports like rugby. Kind regards Danny

Hi there, i just have a quick question, i have heard battery and synergy can be mixed together as one after workout drink? I have tried but it just seems to froth up? i was wondering how much water would be needed to make the best drink. thanks
Hi Mike I would try about 400ml of water. Kind regards Danny

HI ,I just started to train hard 3 times a week ,and struggled to recover after my training.I purchased some prolab creatine last week and also some optimum whey protein.I would consider to buy some phd nutrition battery for recovery.Would you be able to tell me in which order i should consumme my supplements, before during and after training for best results. Thanks Monsters supplements.keep up the great work.
hi vincent, thanks for your kind comments. i would definately sip the battery towards the end of your training then down it with the creatine upon completion of your workout, immediately. then 10 to 15 minutes later have you protein. this will allow for your muscles to be replenished of the glyycogen and avoid them eating into the protein for energy rather than recovery. best regards adam

Hi, I am new to taking supplements and as I taking part in a cycling event that covers 600 miles over 8 days. What do you suggest I use before during and after each day (the event is in June this year). Thnx
i would definately use the battery before and during your cycling and the battery and synergy straight afterwards. this should give your body the nutrients it needs for this amount of intense exercise. best regards

Maybe a silly question but with all those sugars and carbs , can this easily be turned into fat if used daily ? thanks
Not if you take it around workout time, when you deplete gycogen in the muscles then the carbs are all used to replenish these stores in the muscle, not converting to fat, i hope this helps. Thank you

Here's your answer.... Hi Take the Animal Pak in a morning or an hour before training, use glutamine in a morning, before and after training and before bed, use the NO Explde before a workout and the whey afterwards and during the day when you are lacking in protein consumption i.e mid morning/afternoon. The BCAA's use immediately after training. thx for the answer...I was just wondering if I bought PHD battery and took it after training with pharma whey, would that cut out the need to buy the L-glutamine and BCAA`s ? cheers
Not really if you are looking for one post workout product then look at the phd recovery, this is designed specifically for post workout consumption, thanks JB

What would you recommend for a post work out, phd battery or extreme nutrition build and recover thanks
Hi i mwould recommend the PHD Recover 2.1 this is specifically designed as a post workout supplement, thank you JB

I am currently taking battery as a post work-out drink along with relflex instant whey and was wondering is this a good idea as I am looking to lose body fat and put on more muscle. I know carb loading is important post workout but is this just putting the fat back on using battery? thanks
Hi this is fine, it will just replenish glycogen stored within the muscle, keep carb intake low/moderate at other points in the day, thanks

Hi. i am trainng for the 2010 london to southend(60 miles) long distance cycle ride. would this supplement help. and i am 15 would this be ok. thanks
Hi Fred yes this would be ideal, it will really help with your performance

Hi Monster, Just after some advice, i am looking for an energy drink that will help while i am training mostly cardio exercise, could you tell me in your eye's which is the best on the market? Many thanks, Mark
hi Mark, the battery is about the best endurance product i have come across, this is fantastic for anyone who trains and requires endurance, it replenishes glygogen quickly also, this will really help with your recovery, thanks

Hi, I do a lot of mountain biking over routes that take 3 - 4 hours to ride. Is battery a good supplement to take during the rides?
Hi Richard, yes battery is absolutely ideal for this, it is a big hit with endurance athletes.

Hi, as a follow on from my previous question, when taking part in mountain bike rides that take 3 - 4 hours, how should I take battery, should I have seperate plain water for hydration and a seperate battery mix to take as needed, or is it better to mix battery into all the fluid i take with me to sip throughout the ride?
Hi i would have the battery watered down personally and drink throughout, simply add more water than is recommended. thanks

Hi, im a fitness instructor and take several classes a week (spin, circuit, boxercise) to name a few, i also play football competetivly. i have ordered this product as a recovery drink and am going to take it with phd pharma whey, is this enough or is there better supp's more suited to me?
Hi ryan this is a great option Phd also do a specific recovery drink this will also be a good option

Ive bought some PhD Creatine, battery and 6hr pharma,i also have optimum nutrion 100% whey. would i be right in using:- two protein shakes, one at 10 one at 4 combining 5g's of creatine, with 40g of battery before workout at 7pm 5g's of creatine and 60g of battery after training and a 6hr pharma shake jst before bed. using creatine every day for the first week then every other day, and using battery just on training days.
thats great but after the battery post training wait 15 mins then have 100% whey, otherwise it looks a great stack.

Hi, i am a amateur boxer, so i fight 3, 3 minute rounds in a fight. i am looking for a good carb drink to provide me with energy for this. each fight lasts for 12 minutes so i am not sure which drink to purchase as it isnt a long duration but i do throw a lot of punches per round. i was looking at taking phd battery and phd wired before each fight to provide energy and focus but viper extreme looks good as does phd waxy vol. could you pleases clear this up for me. many thanks.
Hi Ken the battery would be ideal you need some fast energy to be explosive i would use battery and also use some hmb caps before and after the fight.

Hi, just wondering if i would be able to combine both phd battery and phd waxy vol with phd pharma whey in the same shake before my 90 minute boxing workout to provide long lasting energy and prevent muscle breakdown. and also wondering how long before training should battery be taken on its own. many thanks.
i would recommend just using protein and waxy vol before trianing. waxy vol is low GI and therefore is digested and utilised more gradually into the system giving a prolonged amount of energy. battery is very high GI and will give you an insulin spike but then a crash. i would recommend only using battery after or during exercise for glycogen replenishment or for a fast soure of energy when you need it. do not take battery before exercise. -AC-

Hi Guys I train 5 days a week early morning and incorporate some hard cardio 2 days a week into my training. I have been using phd pharm gain + creatine pre/post workout lately and pharma whey later in the day to try and increase mass. I want to keep the cardio to keep up my impact speed in sport. I take in plenty of water and once home in the morning have oats, dried fruit and yogurt to top up the carbs (I also have oats on rising in the morning pre workout). Do you think I need incorporate Battery or should I be ok for carbs, as I see Pharma gain does contain a reasonable amout of carbs?
i personally would add battery. you need a fast acting carb immediately following your morning cardio workout. the oats will not get into your system fast enough. -AC-

Hi, i'm looking for the best drink to take while marathon training. What would be best for my needs. Are there any other supplements you believe would aid my training? thanks.
i would strongly recommend battery for this purpose. i would also recommend a whey protein supplement to aid recovery after training sessions or runs. -AC-

Hi, would like to know how this compares with the Lucozade Body Fuel. Thank you!
the battery is far better value formoney. better nutritional breakdown and better taste. -AC-

Hi, I wanted to know if I could take Instant whey phd battery/phd wired together, before and after workout? and what do you think are the best combination drinks for to build muscles but at the same time give energy for cardio? and I want to do a lot running and cycling to build my stamina but I also want to make sure too much of cardio doesn't interfere in building my muscles, any tips for that.. thanks a lot.
take the whey 90 minutes before, take wired 20 minutes before, take the battery during and immediately after, take the whey immediately after. if you are doing lots of cardio then calorie intake must be increased to make sure you are not burning away muscle. -AC-

After my workout i take synergy with milk, could i just add the battery powder into the mixture of synergy and milk and take it after my workout or does it have to be consumed seperatly with water? thanks
Hello yes take the battery with water straight after your workout and then the synergy 15 mins later again with water for best results and absorbtion. Best regards

Hi, I have just purchased this, Synergy and pharma whey. i have been taking pharma whey for a while and was looking to make more gains. I was planning on taking pharma whey twice during the day between meals battery about 20 mins before workouts (i currently use powerade as a pre workout drink) and synergy straight after workouts. is that right or is there a better way to stack them? Regards, Andy
take synergy before and after workout and battery during. other than that this is a good stack. -AC-

Hi could you recomend a good pre wrkout drink at a responsable price? im taking phd pharma whey midmornig and after wrkouts and just wanted something to take pre workout. thanks
the best pre-workout drinks available are phd v-max pump, BSN no-xplode or gaspari superpump. -Ac-

I've entered a triathlon and am looking for an energy drink to take after morning training session so that I can train in the evening. I've been recommended phd battery, would this do the job or is there another product that would be more beneficial?
i personally would highly recommend battery. great product. -AC-

It says in the direction of use to take it 3 times a day, i was thinking of only taking it pre workout would that be alright?
yes that will be fine. -AC-

How many grams of BCAA's are in each shake? thanks in advance
1g

Hey guys im losing weight at the moment, i was looking at the fat loss diet in your magazine and saw battery post workout, i thought that you should cut out the sugars while cutting seeing battrey has a lot of sugars? thanks
post workout the sugars will be used for glycogen replenishment and muscle repair so at this time of the day sugars are ok. -AC-

Hello, how much of phds battery carbohydrate content is from fructose, dextrose and maltodextrin. i have predicted that the carbodydrates mainly come from fructose, although i hope this isnt true.
unfortunately that information is not available to the public. i recommend e-mailing phd nutrition to see if they are able to disclose the information. -AC-

HELLO, I CURRENTLY TAKE SYNERGY ISO 7 PRE AND POST WORKOUT AND SEEMS TO BE WORKING FOR ME. I WORK 12 HOUR SHIFTS AND SOME TRAINING DAYS FALL SO I HAVE TO TRAIN EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER SHIFT. DO TEND TO SUFFER WITH A LACK OF ENERGY EITHER IN WORK OR IN ROUTINE. AM WONDERING IF THIS IS A GOOD PRODUCT TO TAKE DURING WORKOUT WITH MY CURRENT SUPP. TO GIVE ME A BIT OF ENERGY OR WOULD SOMETHING ELSE BE BETTER. CHEERS
Hi Kev, Personally id look at PhD V-Max Pump pre workout! Regards, Josh

How long before a workout do you take PhD Battery?
Hi Ron, I personally wouldn't take it before a work out, I would suggest taking it during your work out, or straight after a work out with some PhD nutrition creatine. The carbs in the battery will give you an insulin spike which helps the absorption of creatine. Best regards -IE-

Hello, im using 1,5 scoop (36)Optimum gold standard whey post-workout. Can i stack this with battery?(optimum already contains BCAA). If yes, should i lower the optimum whey to 1 scoop and should i be drinking them one right after the other or should i wait? Which one first?
Dear Nikos, It is fine to stack battery with Gold standard whey and i would carry on using 1.5 scoops of gold standard whey. The BCAA content in optimum nutrition gold standard whey is not high so taking them both together will get you closer to the BCAA daily allowence Kind Regards Dave

Hi, Thinking about getting PhD Battery as a source of carbs after workout. I take PhD Pharma Whey straight after working out should I take Battery at the the same time or use it say an hour after workout? Many people say only high protein after workout. Steve
Dear Steve, I would actually use the Battery pre or intra workout, as apposed to after. Post workout you need fast acting carbs, thing s like maltrodextrin (complex carbs by garnell nutrition) would be ideal. Dave

Hi, I currently train on average 4 times a week with a programme to develop lean muscles rather than mass. At the moment I take Pharma whey once a day and synergy pre and post workout and have been told to add battery to my post workout supplements. The question is that during the week I tend to train 8-9pm so would it be a bad idea to consume this amount of carbs at night as synergy also has carbs? should I instead take with pharma whey or avoid battery altogether at 9pm. Thanks in advance.
Hi dean I would suggest just sticking with the synergy as it is a good post workout shake, thanks Yours in health Mo giaffar
