PhD pharma whey has long been one of the favourite whey protein shakes with Monster customers, and for good reason. A perfect balance of taste, quality, nutrition and value make the pharma whey our top selling whey protein powder. If you are looking for a great source of protein with low carb and fat content yet great taste then look no further than phd pharma whey. It can be used as a meal or snack replacement to aid in fat loss due to its low calorie nature. Alternatively you can use the pharma whey in between meals to increase your calorie and protein intake and aid in muscle building.
Overall I give the Pharma Whey 5/5 stars.
Adam Campbell - Team Monster
Monster Supplements 2009 Award Winner Pharma Whey: Most Whey Proteins are similar these days. Sure not all of them taste as great as PhD Pharma-Whey™, but they all contain natures most potent muscle building source of protein. With all that covered, whey protein products are becoming a little bland, most companies have nothing much else to say on the matter, we all accept Whey is the best and the story endeth there. Here at PhD however, things are different. Rather than simply provide what we believe is the best-tasting whey protein product on the market, we have delved further into whey protein technology to bring you a whey protein that does everything we already know about, plus a whole lot more.
1. Quality Whey protein blend- Our specific, unique blend of the two finest Whey Protein sources known to man was designed to provide the athlete with the best of both worlds and the finest taste on the market. With the ultra-high Bioavailability of Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) providing instant protein synthesis and similarly large amounts of Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC) to provide immune system benefits and a great creamy taste, Pharma-Whey™gives you the ultimate in whey technology.
2. Added BCAA’s and L-Glutamine- Not intent on simply providing whey protein as the only source of muscle enhancement and tissue repair, PhD have formulated Pharma-Whey™ with added amounts of Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA’s) and L-Glutamine. These 4 amino acids are accepted as being vital to the muscle repairing process and tantamount to an effective athletic lifestyle.
3. Could aid with weight management- Cholecystokinin (CCK) and Glucagon like peptide (GLP-1) are associated with satiety (feelings of fullness and appetite satisfaction) Two studies investigated the effects of two milk proteins- Casein and Whey Protein- on food intake and subjective ratings of fullness and hunger, as well as postprandial metabolite and gastrointestinal hormone responses. Blood samples were taken at regular intervals and tested for amino acids, insulin, glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide, GLP-1 and CCK. The findings showed that those using Whey Protein experienced higher circulating levels of amino acids and higher levels of CCK and GLP-1. These findings show that Whey Protein could have an invaluable role to play in weight-management and weight-reduction programs. It’s a simple equation. If you feel fuller, you’ll eat less, crave less and binge less.
4. Helps to promote growth of pre-biotics, the precursors to friendly bacteria- The term pre-biotic refers to “a non-digestible food ingredient that beneficially affects the host by selectively stimulating the growth and/or activity of one or a limited number of bacteria in the colon” There are many components of Whey Protein that have been found to potentially enhance intestinal health and increase pre-biotic activity. Lactose (found naturally within all whey proteins) has been shown to support lactic acid bacteria (such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli). Stalic acids (types of oligosaccharides), which are typically attached to proteins commonly found in Whey, have also been shown to possess prebiotic effects. However, three additional components of Whey have been found to beneficially affect prebiotic formulation. The first is a protein called glycomacropeptide (GMP). GMP is derived from the partial enzymatic breakdown of kappa-casein during cheese production, becoming a component of whey. GMP has been shown to support the growth of bifidobacteria. The second Whey-derived prebiotic is lactoferrin (Lf), which has been shown to support the growth of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. (4). Interestingly the third Whey component with prebiotic potential is a mineral that is found in high amounts within all quality whey protein formulations. Calcium phosphate has been shown to selectively stimulate the growth of intestinal lactobacilli and decrease the severity of salmonella infections in rats.
5. High in anti oxidants- Pharma-Whey™ is high in the amino acid Cysteine, which helps the body’s immune system by raising glutathione levels. Glutathione is the most powerful of all antioxidants with the ability to help the body reduce risk of infection by making the immune system more responsive.
For optimum results use 2-4 servings of Pharma-Whey daily. Ideally, use 1 serving 60-90 minutes prior to intense exercise, followed by 1-2 servings immediately upon completion of intense exercise. To Mix a regular shake providing 20 grams of protein: Add 1 serving (1 scoop) to 200-250ml of ice cold water or 250ml of milk and shake for approx 5 seconds. For a thicker, higher-protein shake, providing 30 grams of protein: Add 1 ½ servings (1 ½ scoops) of Pharma-Whey to 200-250ml of ice cold water or 250ml of milk and shake for approx 5-10 seconds.

Ask a Question
Any chance of a 10lb choc mint flavour? cheers
im afraid i dont know whether phd nutrition are planning on making that. we have not been made aware that it is in production. -AC-
Hi, I weigh about 75kg and I'm 5'8. I want to bulk up a bit and was thinking of taking 6 servings of this a day so from this alone I would be consuming 120g of protein. Would this be ok as I know it says for best results use between 2-4 servings per day. also would it be best to take a double serving straight after working out or just 6 separate times throughout the day. I do weights in the morning and boxing in the evening. Cheers!
you could take that amount but most of your protein should come from food if you are wanting to bulk up. at your bodywight you should aim for around 250g protein per day. -AC-
How would this go with phd lean degree to put on some lean muslce and decrease body fat? cheers
they can be stacked together to reduce fat but taking the lean degree will simply make it harder to add muscle. dont use the lean degree and you will find it much easier to add mass. -AC-
Would it be good to take 2 scoops per shake to help bulking up in size?
1.5 scoops will give 30g of protein which is an optimal amount to take in one sitting. -AC-
Any info on a banana flavor, banana is lush
im afraid i dont believe phd will be releasing a banana flavour in this size. they may do in the future. -Ac-
Hi
I want to lose weight/tone up and am looking for a protein shake to supplement my diet, is this the right one for me? thanks
Hi,
PhD is one of the best low carb, low fat and High protein Whey's - So is a perfect choice!
Thanks,
Josh
Will there be banana flavour in this size available?
hi Nicholas,
There are no plans of yet, but one may well come out in the future!
Is this veggie????
Yes, in every flavour but not strawberry.
I am a little confused with the serving size. for most of the products you get a scoop inside.
so if the serving is one scoop - does that mean a level or heaped scoop.
why I ask is I have two products, one is meant to be 1 scoop(30g) and one is meant to be 1.5 scoop(60g) - hence my confusion as both scoops are the same size.
and likewise for this product is 25g one level scoop or heaped.
Thanks
Hello, the scoops may be the same but the density of the product with effect its weight per scoop, follow the directions on the tub and make sure they are level scoops.
I have heard really good reviews on Phd nutrition so ill be looking to purchase a Phd supplement but dont know which one.. I have a fast metabolism and i am looking to gain weight but even though most weight gain products aide in muscle mass they also aid in putting fat on round the belly. Could you advise me on which products would be ideal for me and also other products to stack which will aide in increased muscle mass and toned. thank you
Hi Jordan,
Look at using PhD Pharma Whey to increase your protein requirements, then on training days look at adding in a serving of PHD Synergy pre and post workout.
Regards,
Josh
In your opinion the whey from PHD is better than Reflex whey products?
Hi paulo, Personally I think both brands are very reliable, But i always go for the PhD Pharma whey since it tastes alot better in my opinion.

Im an endurance athlete and i am looking for a protein shake that will aid recovery without adding unnecessary bulk, however i am not looking to loose weight either. will this product help?
hi dan. Yes a good low carb protein shake will be very useful to you. it allows you to increase your daily calorie intake but solely from protein so its unlikely you wil ladd fat. Best regards -AC-
