Recording Results

Recording Results

-

When it comes to working with weights, you want 100% of your mental energy focused on the task at hand – pushing yourself and lifting the weight for more reps/better form than the previous workout.

-

To do this efficiently, recording your results is essential. It may not sound like much, but recording your results each and every workout allows you to be more effective over time….this will generate significant increases in intensity and improve workouts.

-

Here’s why:

-

When you record results, you have documentation of what you have DONE. So next time, you don’t have to guess what weight you lifted on a previous workout and for how many reps, you know exactly what the “score” is.

-

Now when it comes to the NEXT workout, you know what you need to do to improve, so this gives you a goal to shoot for every workout…and if you know anything about goal setting, you know it’s important to be specific, does having a record of results sound specific to you?

-

Furthermore, over the week you can glance over your workout sheet and see exactly what you need to do, creating momentum as you go…you can even write notes like I do such as – “6 reps , but form needs improving”….so next time I know I can lift the weight for 6 reps, but I need to focus on form…and then when I get that set down, I can increase the weight on that particular exercise.

-

I remember when I didn’t record my results and I completed a working set only to remember I did MORE repetitions the week before….what a waste of energy! Even trying to remember the previous weeks exercises wastes valuable mental energy, save that for the workout and record those results!

-

- When changing to different splits over time, it’s not uncommon to take out a few exercises and replace them with others, when you record your results, you can check your notes to see what weight you got up to previously a few months ago when you did a certain exercise.

About the Author

After graduating university I pursued my passion in the health & fitness industry to help others cut their learning time by sharing my knowledge and experience to bring others up to speed. My scientific background has greatly assisted in my ability to assess the current literature and get straight to the cutting edge strategies that help me and others achieve their goals sooner rather than later. To help round out my experience I competed in a tested fitness show to put my knowledge (and discipline) to the test, I achieved my best conditioning ever, gained certain insights and a huge amount of experience that only a competition can teach you. I’ll be competing again in the near future once I’ve added some more size and achieved certain goals in other areas of life.
