This week’s tip is focussed towards your training! Each and every weeek, without fail I notice people using absolutely shocking form and they will ask the same questions. ”How much can YOU lift?” or ”I can curl X amount of weight” and so on. My point is, if you are here to learn how to build muscle then there are several things you need to understand, and if you don’t then your ignorance will forever more stand in your way!
Just last night I hit a DTP arm workout with my girlfriend and my training partner (client) who has done great. However, I found myself growing in frustration with each repetition he did during the barbell curls, his arms were only extending to 90 degree angle during the negative and his shoulders were coming forward on the way up. He is certainly not alone, MOST people make this very same mistake with bicep training. The issue is that the stretch on the bicep is limited, most of the weight transfer is NOT going through the bicep muscle AND the motor unti and muscle fibre recruitment process is hindered.
My advice to you, when you train biceps stretch them ALL the way down so that the arm is STRAIGHT! Then in a controlled manner curl the weight ALL the way to the top. No more BS half reps! Yes hald and even quarter reps have their place, but not all of the time! Rant over!!
