Bulking often equates to a large increase in body fat for most people. This is fine to an extent, it works for many people and who am I to argue against some of the most respected figures in the industry. However, having thought about it, read the research and learned from a very respected individual from London I have my own take on it!
My tip of the week is to stay lean, even when bulking!
As I explained earlier in the week in an article, the higher your body fat the less anabolic you become. How? Simply put, your Insulin shuttles nutrients into the fat cell as well as the muscle cell. The more fat cells you have, the more nutrients will be lost in your fat cells. This is not good for recovery or muscle growth.
To add to that, the aromatase enzyme lives within the fat cell. This enzyme is responsible for converting testosterone into estrogen. This decreases your free testosterone levels, having a massively negative affect on your rate of anabolism.
Need I say anymore, stay lean even when growth is the ultimate goal guys!
