Excuses, excuses, excuses are one way of making yourself feel a bit better about not doing something you said you would. However, surely there comes a time when you have to stop making excuses and just get on with it. Here are ‘4 of the most common excuses’ people make which prevent them from getting ripped in the summer! If this is you, do something about it before the summer really begins!
All my friends drink –
Alcohol is the number 1 downfall of most people in terms of their progress in the gym. I would go as far as to say alcohol should be off limits 95% of the year if you are that serious about your gains! However, as work colleagues and friends drink in the bar after work you feel compelled to join them. So what if they are drinking, it doesn’t mean you have to. If you are serious about getting extra lean this summer, then don’t make anymore excuses and kick the alcohol to the curb!
I don’t have time to prepare –
After alcohol, missing meals has got to be the biggest fall down of ‘average Joe’ on the bench press machine! Again, it is easy to justify missing meals if you are ‘busy’ because you don’t feel guilty. Make excuses forever more but your body won’t feel sorry for you and magically grow muscle and shed body fat as a result. Get up 30 minutes earlier, go to bed 30 minutes later and cook your food for the next day! Don’t let this excuse stop you, because without good nutrition you may as well stop now!
I get bored of the food –
Again by telling yourself the food on a ‘diet’ isn’t nice you are relieving yourself of the guilt of not eating well. Bland diets are long gone; there is no reason why you should be eating dry chicken breast and brown rice alone. How much effort does it take to chop up an onion, red pepper, tomato and a poor a few tablespoons of balsamic vinegar into the pan when you’re cooking the chicken? All of a sudden you have a very tasty chicken and rice dish. Don’t let laziness by your excuse; instead make your food taste great!
Once won’t make a difference –
This excuse can make my blood boil! Numerous times I can be around family or friends and they will try and tempt me into cheating my diet, saying ‘one chocolate bar’ or ‘one burger’ won’t make that much difference. Trust me it will, and unless it is a scheduled cheat meal do not cheat! No matter what the excuse don’t because you are basically throwing all your hard work down the drain. More than this, afterwards you will say ‘it wasn’t even worth it’!
These excuses are very common so don’t feel too bad if this sounds like you! Instead be positive and start acting on your goals today. Don’t make anymore excuses, they are always unfounded and justifications for failure! If you want to get ripped, pull away from the crowd and stop making excuses today!
