3 'Tastylicious' BBQ Recipes!

Scrumptious recipes are something we never get bored of, making food taste good is always welcomed! Here are 3 tantalising recipes which should really ‘scratch every itch’ your cravings have given you! The key to a good recipe is convenience and speed, and all of these can be prepare and cooked in around 15-20 minutes!

Meal 1 ‘Beef burger and Potato Wedges’ – burgers and chips are a UK favourite, and with good reason! They taste so good and you never get bored. However, they are basically a ‘heart attack in a meal’ so we can’t have that on FitMag! Instead, here is a tasty ‘burger and chips’ recipe for the health conscious athlete!

. 150g lean minced beef

. 3 egg whites

. ½ finely chopped onion

. ½ finely chopped green pepper

. ½ grated carrot

Add all of these ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix with your hands. Once they are very thoroughly mixed, shape the mince into 2 big burgers, and throw them on the BBQ! Leave these cook until they are well browned either side! Once they are finished, put into a large wholegrain bun.

. 250g potato chopped into wedges

Cook these potato wedges until they are nice and brown in the oven, again in a baking tray coated in extra virgin olive oil 1 cal spray. To enhance the texture and coat of the wedges season them with some sea salt and black pepper.

There you have an outstanding ‘burger and chips’ meal which is totally healthy! The burger will dwarf a ‘Double Whopper’ or ‘Big Mac’ in size as well as the nutrition content. Never again will you feel inclined to drop into a fast food chain once you know how to make your own version!

Meal 2 ‘Pork and Apple Skewers with Spicy Rice’  – summertime is such a blissful time of the year (yes, even in the UK) and one of the most enjoyable things to do is spark up the barbecue! Kebabs are a very popular choice of food on the barbecue menu, and now you can indulge to! With this recipe, never again will you have to decline a family barbecue due to your diet.

. 180g chopped lean pork loin (CUT OFF FAT)

. 250g sliced sweet potato

. 1 sliced onion

. ½ chopped green pepper

. ½ chopped red pepper

. ½ sliced apple

Take all of these ingredients and put them on to skewers! All you then have to do is pop them on the BBQ and let them cook! To accompany these skewers, spicy rice is lovely! To make your own, follow this recipe.

. ½ cup of brown rice

. 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil

. 1 crushed garlic clove

. Chilli powder

. Turmeric powder

. Cumin powder

Sautee the rice with the above ingredients for about 10 minutes in a pan on a very low heat. This will enable the rice to really absorb the flavours and it will enable the flavours to develop. At this point the rice is uncooked. After the 10 minutes, add the relevant quantity of water to cook the rice along with the ingredients below.

. ½ finely chopped onion

. 4 chopped cherry tomatoes

. Vegetable stock cube

Once the rice is cooked, give it a final mix and add in come coriander and lime juice! This will really bring the recipe together. Now you have a beautiful rice dish to accompany your tender pork and apple skewers!

Meal 3 ‘BBQ Pineapple Chicken Pita’ – chicken is probably the most popular meat in the barbecue season across the UK. Succulent barbecued chicken really does taste great, and it can also be very healthy and good for your muscles! Follow this recipe and you will have yet another tongue teasing recipe!

. 180g chicken breast

. 150g pineapple chunks

. ½ finely chopped onion

. ½ chopped green pepper

These ingredients are so straight forward, just chuck them over the BBQ until they are . . . . . . . well barbecued. Then take a wholegrain pita bread and toast it over the BBQ to get that authentic barbecue experience. To really add to the taste, smear 1 tablespoon of Piri-Piri sauce over the chicken before putting it into the pita bread.

There you go guys, another 3 finger licking recipes which avoid you having to be anti-social at family BBQs. By all means, make your own adjustments as you see fit, these are what I have used and found to be the best!
